The main game page says 19 specialised roles within a 50-strong team. The current US Steam description instead says 17 distinct roles and then lists 17 role names. Because both are first-party properties, the discrepancy is disclosed rather than silently choosing one headline number.
The 17-role Steam enumeration
Command contains Commander. Infantry includes Squad Leader, Rifleman, Grenadier, Engineer, Medic, Specialist and Machine Gunner. Recon includes Spotter and Sniper; Armour includes Tank Commander and Crewman; Mortar Squad includes Observer, Support and Gunner; and the US Helicopter unit adds Logistics Officer and Pilot.
Why the roster is asymmetric
US and NVA forces use different capabilities, equipment and battlefield systems. Do not assume that a role, vehicle or loadout shown for one faction is available to the other.
